Job Description

The incumbent in this position supervises the preparation and reviews of federal agency preservation responses to Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) agency projects on ancestral, aboriginal, and ceded Seminole lands, as described in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other applicable preservation statutes. The individual conducts documentary research to further define and evaluate the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s area of interest; and participates in agency consultations, professional training, and other office work related to the THPO program. Master’s Degree in Archaeology, Historic Preservation, Anthropology, History, Environmental Science, or related field is required A minimum of five (5) years of experience related to archaeological survey and excavation, and/or historic preservation law, including one (1) year of experience in the field and two (2) years of Archaeological Cultural Resource Management (CRM) and/or compliance review work, as well as prior experience in a supervisory capacity is required. Understanding of basic historic preservation and environmental law especially Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is required. Prior experience working in or with Native American tribe is preferred. Must possess or obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within in thirty (30) of hire, to drive Tribal vehicles. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages (especially Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Explorer, and Power Point). Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
