Job Description

The Collections Assistant is responsible for working in the Museum’s Collections Division assisting Division staff with all aspects of collection management including cataloging, research, and preservation-related duties. The individual also works on preventive conservation of the collection such as storing and numbering artifact and archival objects. Bachelor’s degree in History, Museum Studies, Anthropology or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates who are in the process of obtaining a graduate level in related fields will be also be considered. Experience working in a curatorial setting is preferred. Strong organizational, communication and research skills are necessary, with the ability to prioritize workload and handle many tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft software programs and add-ins are required. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be able to travel when necessary.
