Job Description

This is specialized work of the historic preservation program for the Seminole Tribe of Florida Tribal Historic Preservation Office. The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing systematic investigations of possible archeological sites, including excavation, field data collection, and data recording. Work also includes extensive use of GPS software to record spatial data. The individual may perform work in the archeological laboratory such as cleaning, counting and cataloging artifacts and ecofacts. The incumbent is required to report to any one of the six (6) reservations depending on daily scheduled project work. This position is a two-year term position. Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archeology, History or related field is required. A minimum of one (1) year experience conducting Phase I fieldwork is also required. Must have previous experience driving allterrain and 4-wheel drive vehicles. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and be able to operate Tribal vehicles, which include 4-wheel drive trucks and all-terrain vehicles. Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
