Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for directing, managing, supervising, and coordinating the activities and operations of assigned Division within the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Fire Rescue Department which includes operations, training, facility/equipment maintenance, fire prevention, disaster preparedness, public education and related programs and services; responds to emergency incidents; coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Fire Chief. The incumbent responds to emergency incidents as required by departmental policy and assumes command of incident unless relieved of command by a superior officer. Associates Degree in Fire Science is required; Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science is preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience working in a Fire Department/Agency providing a full range of urban fire protection services; including two (2) years of management and administrative responsibility at the level of Battalion Chief is required. State of Florida Firefighter II certification and Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic designation is required. Florida Certification as Fire Officer I is preferred at time of appointment; or certification must be obtained within two (2) years of appointment. Additional certifications may be required for specific Division Chief assignments, such as, Florida Fire Inspector certification for the Fire Prevention Division, or Florida Fire Instructor certification for the Training Division. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License with an “E” endorsement at the time of hire and maintain it throughout the course of employment. National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 300, 400 or certificate of completion of the Incident Command System (ICS) from the National Fire Academy or equivalent is required; or, ability to obtain same within six (6) months of employment. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate proficiency in computer software. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. The incumbent must be able to travel to all STOF Reservations and locations and be able to work flexible work schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays.
