Job Description

The Research Assistant is responsible for assisting with a large-scale grant based project in the Collections Division of the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum. The main focus of this position is to de-colonize narratives recorded in over 500 newspapers from the 18th and 19th century located and belonging to the Museum’s collection. This individual performs activities related to research, critical thinking, cataloging, and writing. The incumbent collaborates and works side-by-side with the Collections Manager who provides support for all activities. Bachelor’s degree in History, Museum Studies, Anthropology or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education/training and experience may be considered. Prior experience working in a curatorial setting is preferred. Demonstration of strong organizational, communication and research skills are necessary, with the ability to prioritize workload and handle many tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft software programs and add-ins are required. Must be able to travel and work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
