Job Description

The incumbent for this skilled position within the Operations and Maintenance Section (O&M) of the Environmental Resource Management Department (ERMD) is responsible for the maintenance and repair of various mechanical equipment assets within ERMD including: diesel engines, hydraulic pumps, generators, heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, graders, backhoes, front-end loaders), small gasoline engines, and vehicles. Duties include: executing a targeted preventative maintenance program for mechanical equipment to ensure optimum, long-term operation and safety, routine inspection, operation, and documentation of mechanical assets in the field (e.g., water pumps), and parts inventory. The work may involve rebuilding diesel and gasoline engines, trouble-shooting and repairing electrical component systems, and hydraulic pump repair. High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a maintenance mechanic is required. An equivalent combination of education/relevant training and experience may also be considered. Professional certifications such as ASE Certified Diesel Mechanic from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic from the Instrument Society of America, or Fluid Power Mobile Hydraulic Mechanic from the International Fluid Power Society are preferred. Knowledge of proper tool use and a strong commitment to safety procedures is mandatory. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and be able to travel to all Seminole Tribe of Florida Reservations and facilities. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use a computer for email, spreadsheets, and the Internet is preferred.
