Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for operating/driving a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, crawler tractors, front wheel loaders, excavators, wheel tractors with disk and harrow, and other gasoline or diesel powered equipment. The individual drives and operates equipment in on/off-road conditions in order to complete surface water delivery/stormwater conveyance system maintenance activities/tasks, as assigned. Performs routine vehicle maintenance including, but not limited to: conducting daily pre/post-operation checks, routine preventive maintenance, and minor equipment field repair or adjustment. The individual is required to provide emergency response actions to all Reservations, as assigned. This is skilled work, and the individual is required to perform these duties in accordance with all established standard operating procedures and safety protocols. High School diploma or equivalent GED is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of documented experience in the professional operation of heavy construction equipment, such as excavators, front-end loaders, dozers, bobcats, back-hoes, tractors, and other heavy equipment, with a documented safety record, is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must have the ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License within one year of duties assignment. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. without assistance. Must obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER certification within one year of duties assignment, and must maintain annual HAZWOPER refresher credential.
