Job Description

The incumbent in this professional, technical position is responsible for the development and implementation of the Wetland Protection Program (WPP) within the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Environmental Resource Management Department (ERMD). The individual develops, analyzes, and interprets wetland resource data; assesses potential impacts to Tribal wetland resources; and develops strategies to avoid, minimize, or mitigate impacts to Tribal wetland resources across all Tribal lands. Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field is required. A minimum to one (1) year to three (3) years of pertinent experience is required, and may include graduate level program experience. Professional Wetland Scientist or Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT)certification through the Society of Wetland Scientists’ (SWS) Professional Certification Program is preferred, or must work to become WPIT within five years of hire, as directed by SWS requirements. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages, GIS software, and other statistical data management packages. A valid Florida driver’s license is required. Ability to travel to all Seminole Tribe of Florida Reservations and other Tribal owned lands and ability to work flexible work schedules, when necessary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is a requirement of this position.
