Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for developing, analyzing and preparing balance sheets, financial statements and/or audit reports that will assist management in the decision making process and in the preparation of reliable financial reporting. The incumbent will perform moderately complex work using accounting systems and applying related concepts of financial management, requiring comprehensive knowledge of the STOF's financial functions, government fund accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, auditing and automated accounting systems. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. A minimum of two (2) years of related experience working as staff accountant is required. Prior experience in governmental accounting/auditing settings and fixed asset accounting is highly preferred. Knowledge of Government Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standard Board 34 (GASB 34) reporting requirements is required. Certification as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
