Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible to support the Environmental Resource Management Department (ERMD) through efficient and timely management and processing of regulatory on-Reservation project reviews submitted through the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s (STOF) permitting system. The individual provides directly assistance to the ERMD Compliance Section and Environmental Science Sections, with the Tribal environmental permitting review process, producing required permitting documents, and ensuring compliance with pertinent established rules and regulations. The individual facilitates coordination and information sharing among Tribal Community Members, Tribal officials, Tribal departments, Tribal contractors, and state/federal agencies. This role requires on-going coordination with Tribal Community Development Department (TCD) staff members, in particular. Responsibilities also include effective record keeping, updating the appropriate permitting database, monitoring the status of projects from beginning to end, and identifying solutions to address project delays and timelines. The incumbent demonstrates and maintains effective communication in order to achieve successful project goals. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, City Planning, Project Management, or related field is required. A solid understanding of state and federal and state environmental permitting laws is required. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in Tribal, federal, state, or local government compliance service is required. Prior experience working in or with Native American government is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft software packages (especially Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Explorer, and Power Point), GIS (e.g., ESRI software products), and an ability to learn Energov planning and management software is required. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate excellent office and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Must be able to travel to all Tribal Reservations and Tribally-owned lands. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
