Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the overall management of the accounting functions for the Seminole Tribe of Florida Inc. (STOFI). This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure the accuracy of general ledger and budget, and timely completion of all financial reporting and/or statements. The individual coordinates, develops and/or produces various accounting/budget reports to meet STOFI financial needs and legal and regulatory requirements. The incumbent in this position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the budget and forecast activities. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience working in the accounting field in a leadership capacity is required. Prior governmental accounting/auditing experience is strongly preferred. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly desirable. Technical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) reporting requirements is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
