Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for overseeing the design, planning and execution of all assigned architectural and construction related projects for the Tribal Community Development department of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The incumbent works with Tribal departments on the development and design of building projects, site plans and drainage; oversees the work of design consultants and works with subordinate staff to generate Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and construction bid documents. The Project Design Manager is also responsible to generate schematic building and site plans which will form the basis of designs to be prepared by architectural and engineering consultants. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Community Planning and the Tribe’s Development Manager on projects both on and off Tribal trust lands. Considerable independent judgment and initiative is exercised in conformance with standard operating policies and procedures. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering or related field is required. A Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering is preferred. A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience managing the facilities design, or the planning and coordination, of large scale design and construction projects that included the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating and scheduling activities., including significant project management experience is required. Credentials as Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer in the State of Florida are preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is and able to travel to all Seminole Reservations and facilities is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft software programs. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
