Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing advanced professional accounting work in support of fiscal activity for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Environmental Resource Management Department (ERMD). The incumbent is responsible for performing financial and compliance assurance activities including reconciliation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports from the Accounting Department and Budget Department, payment of vendor invoices, functions associated with grant and grant-funded contract work, and assisting in budget development for Tribal Council, capital project, and grant related budget planning. The individual works with minimal supervision and must be able to independently develop data necessary for sound managerial decision-making and financial reporting. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field is required. A Master’s Degree in Accounting is highly preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of related experience working with environmental programs with knowledge related to Accounting, Finance Management, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to meet successful execution of job duties may be considered. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is preferred. Prior experience in governmental accounting/auditing settings and fixed asset accounting is highly preferred. Knowledge of Government Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements is highly preferred. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License is required. Must demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft and other financial/accounting software packages. Must have the ability to travel to Seminole Tribe of Florida Reservations and other facilities, as required. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
