Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing educational Mental Health classes to all school-age children/youth, school staff, and Lead Education Agencies (LEA) staff in various mental health topics and substance abuse disorders. The individual coordinates and facilitate classes and training, collects and reports programmatic data, and serves as a liaison between school stakeholders and the Project AWARE program. The individual also provides in-depth counseling services to Tribal children and youth in areas including co-occurring disorders, psychiatric disorders, domestic violence, sexual abuse, child abuse, alcohol abuse, and drug abuse. The individual in this position should be familiar with evidence-based practices (EBP), solution-focused brief therapy, and a "Whole School" approach. This position involves applying various the individual also collects and reports programmatic data and provides the information to the Program Manager. Employees in this class perform duties with some autonomy; make independent judgments within established policies and procedures. A Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health, or Professional Counseling is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a behavioral health field, including experience working with multi-diagnosed individuals (e.g., mental health disorders/substance dependence-related conditions), family systems, and/or community-based treatments, is required. Florida State License as Mental Health Counselor (MHC), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required. Ability to exemplify the highest level of professional standards/ethics and demonstrate appropriate and culturally sensitive service delivery and community-based treatment. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Microsoft software packages. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is a requirement for this position.
