Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing a variety of Building, Electrical, Plumbing, OR Mechanical inspections of building construction, erection, repair, addition, or alteration projects that require permitting to ensure compliance with building, accessibility, and other construction codes as required by the Seminole Tribe Building Code (STBC) and other local, county, state, and federal regulations. The individual in this position investigates complaints of existing buildings to determine appropriate usage and if hazardous or life safety conditions exist. The individual in this position reports to the Building’s Official Director and is an exempt position. High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required. Possession and ability to maintain a valid certified Building Inspector’s License with the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB). A minimum of four (4) years of experience in residential/commercial construction in the structural discipline with at least two (2) years of experience working within High-Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) is required. The ability to read and interpret blueprints is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including English written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to travel to all STOF Reservations and able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
