Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing skilled digital mapping involving preparation and maintenance of digital maps and providing Geographic Information System (GIS) support to the Planning Department of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The individual is also responsible for systems analysis (field location) of utility projects as assigned by the supervisor. The individual serves as a technician on projects involving data collection and creation, editing and manipulation and provides supportive mapping data. Associate’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or related field with Geographic Information System (GIS) coursework is required. A minimum of three (3) years of experience computer-assisted mapping or computer-assisted design software with at least two (2) years of experience working with ArcGIS and knowledge and understanding of GPS hardware and software packages and a minimum of at least two (2) years’ experience of utility mapping. Completion of computer-assisted mapping or computer-assisted design coursework (i.e. ESRI educational coursework) is highly desirable Knowledge and understanding of integrated GIS/GPS principles systems, and technologies is required.
