Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the initiation, coordination and administration of the pre-award planning, organization, and preparation, and the post-award administration of various grants awarded to the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s (STOF) Heritage and Environment Resources Office (HERO) departments, which includes the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki museum, Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO), and the Environmental Resources Management Department (ERMD).The individual researches and identifies available grants; organizes, prepares, and writes grant proposals. The Grants Specialist evaluates and tracks federal public funding and foundation funding opportunities. Additional activities may also include interacting with funding agency and administrative staff to ensure grants comply with regulatory, agency, and STOF policy requirements; monitoring or evaluating compliance with established program outcomes; assisting and making recommendations on matters pertaining to grant writing; monitoring fiscal management procedures as well as, serving as a liaison with HERO Departments. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business/Public Administration or related field is required. A minimum of five (5) years of grant writing experience, initiating, managing and/or monitoring contracts, grants and/or leases is required. Prior experience at government level is preferred. An equivalent combination of experience will be considered. Must demonstrate a successful track record of securing new funding opportunities. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License and be able to travel to all Seminole Reservations and facilities. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
