Job Description

The Environmental Protection Coordinator (“EPC”) is an advanced, professional position that serves in a coordinating role to support programmatic goals/objectives and perform duties related to environmental permitting and compliance, inspection, and assistance with Tribal technical staff and contractors within the ERMD’s Environmental Permitting Section. The incumbent in this position is also responsible for coordinating and facilitating the review of incoming permitting review documents, compliance inspections, natural resource protection and site development planning/mitigation. Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field, is required. A minimum of five (5) years previous experience and/or training in a related area of work, such as: pollution control, water quality monitoring, environmental assessment, ecological impact analysis, wetland permitting, environmental compliance permitting, environmental code enforcement, computerized mapping is required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job may be considered. Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector (FSESCI) is preferred, or ability to obtain within two (2) years of full-time employment. Forty (40) Hour HAZWOPER Certification is preferred, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of full-time employment. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Remote Pilot (drone pilot) certification is preferred, or ability to obtain within two (2) years of full-time employment. The incumbent may be required to obtain a license(s) in area of assigned work. Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver’s License, is required. Must demonstrate excellent coordination, organizational, and administrative skills, and must include written and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills utilizing Microsoft software programs and add-ins. Must have the ability to travel to all Seminole Tribe of Florida Reservations and Tribal lands, and must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
