Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing medical care to infants, children, adolescents and young adults at the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Hollywood, Immokalee, Big Cypress and Brighton clinic facilities in accordance with a prescribed schedule. Performs and interprets diagnostic examinations/data to determine nature and extent of pediatric patient’s medical condition/injury. Collects, records and maintains details of the patient's information such as clinical history, reports, and test outcomes. Administers treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other particularized medical care to treat or preclude illnesses, disorders, or injuries in infants and teens. Counsels and guides patients and their parents or guardians regarding diet, essential activities for treating complications, hygiene, and disease preclusion. Serves as pediatric consultant to mid-level providers and family practice physicians. Serves as a resource person and provides advice and consultation to allied programs such as Pharmacy, Community Health, Dental, Nutrition, Environmental Health and Health Education. Reviews concurrently and/or retrospectively referrals for specialized pediatric care initiated by other medical practitioners for appropriateness and review. Reviews and evaluates the operation, services and pediatric activities provided through the medical clinic to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local, and federal regulations. Recommends any necessary changes and/or enhancements. Investigates and studies trends in disease and/or injuries that have an adverse impact on the well-being of the pediatric population to assist the health department in establishing priorities and the development of medical programs, services, function or activities. Medical Doctor’s degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy’s (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school. Incumbent must possess a current license to practice medicine in the State of Florida. Must possess Board certification in Pediatrics. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in outpatient and inpatient care of pediatric patients from newborn to eighteen (18) years of age. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages required. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
