Job Description

The Director of Education provides leadership and direction for the various support services that assist students in developing skills and strategies which foster independent academic success, student wellness, and achievement of their educational goals. The Director is responsible for overseeing various student services and programs that include primary, secondary and postsecondary admissions, advising, assessment and testing, career services, library services, tuition and financial assistance, tutoring and GED programs. The incumbent exercises an extensive degree of negotiating abilities, strategic thinking, organizational and political agility, and proficiency in financial analysis. The Director is responsible for managing budgets and other resources to maximize the support services needed to achieve student success. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the managers of student success and services work collaboratively to develop, design and implement strategies that are conducive to the department’s overall goals and vision. Additional responsibilities encompass analysis, planning, forecasts of student population, utilization and cost, as well as, evaluation of programs, services and staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of high quality services. Master’s degree in Education, Organizational Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field is required. Additionally, highly desirable is a Degree or an Administrative Certification in one of the following areas: Community Education, Public Administration, Public Relations, Library Science, and/or Communications. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in program development, managing budgets and generating financial reports is required. A minimum of three (3) years related experience in management of a department and/or a program which included an educational leadership, general administrative or similar capacity is preferred. Must demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to include mastering of the English language – written and oral. Knowledge of Seminole history and culture highly preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays. Local, regional, national or international travel will be required, to oversee program implementation and/or to attend conferences and meetings related to the EAO and/or its various programs.
