Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and supervision on the implementation of an Environmental Safety and Emergency Coordination Program for all Environmental Protection office (EPO) Departments and Projects. The individual plans, develops and implements accident-prevention programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, preventing damage and/or loss to equipment and property. The incumbent is also responsible for reviewing, recommending, creating, writing, and updating the EPO Departments’ Policy Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), as well as the development of all the EPO Departments’ plans for preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery from emergencies and declared disasters (All-Hazards Plans). The individual is responsible for facilitating response to emergency environmental concerns (Hazardous Spill Response, Emergency Environmental Oversight, Tropical Depression Response etc.) and is expected to be available to report to hazardous remediation response notifications on an on-call, as needed, basis. This position carries additional essential duty responsibilities related to emergency readiness and response. Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in developing and managing a comprehensive safety and health program, including accident investigation experience, is required. Experience of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and associated credentials essential required. Certification or ability to gain certification, within one year of employment in; ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, ICS-800, G-300, G-400. G-2300, OSHA-30, OSHA-500 and OSHA-HAZWOPER 40-hour certification required. Certification or ability to be certified as a Board Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA), and/or Florida Associate Emergency Manager preferred. Must have knowledge of Florida Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) laws & standards, Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory requirements are required. A Florida Driver’s License is required. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Must have the ability to travel across all reservations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
