Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing instructional and clerical work necessary to assist the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher at the Ahfachkee School in planning, preparing, and delivering classroom instruction. The ESE Instructional Aide assists the ESE Teacher in providing instructional assistance to children and young students with disabilities, teaching them independent life skills, basic literacy, communication and math using or modifying the general education curriculum to meet the student’s individual needs. This position reports to the Assistant Principal or its designee and is a non-exempt position. Associate’s Degree is required. Must have earned a 464 or higher score on the Praxis ParaPro Assessment Test, or must have earned a minimum of sixty (60) college hours. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills including English written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficient computer skills utilizing Microsoft software programs. Demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with parents and children. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes school events held on evenings, weekends and holidays.
