Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for measuring accurate angles and distances using advanced surveying instruments and electronic measuring devices. Work involves responsibility for performing complex to difficult engineering field survey tasks and mathematical computations associated with field surveying and related office work. Duties require the applications of knowledge of the techniques and practices of field surveying. Reviewing work for technical accuracy and correct location while in progress and upon completion. High school Diploma or equivalent GED or the completion of an instrument technician program or engineering technology program at a private/public technical school is required. An Associate’s degree in Geography, Surveying, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering is preferred; A minimum of one (2-3) years of experience with basic knowledge of the public lands survey system is required. Must have knowledge of elementary surveying practices, Data Collection software and basic map/survey reading. Ability to operate the Trimble GPS equipment. Knowledge and understanding of integrated GIS/GPS principles systems, and/or Civil 3d is a plus. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
