Job Description

The Advocacy Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and staff supervision at the Advocacy & Guardianship Department (AGD) site. The incumbent is responsible for the day to day management of Advocacy operations, in addition to carrying a client case load as necessary. The incumbent in this position is also responsible for providing in-depth service-based individual, or family consultation services to Tribal Members in areas such as crisis intervention, case management, child abuse, elder abuse, and assessment of the safety of the children. Employees in this class perform duties with some autonomy; makes independent judgments within established policies and procedures. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory work experience in the child welfare field in abuse investigations or dependency case management is required. Child Welfare certification is required. Knowledge of Florida statutes and laws that govern child welfare and the Indian Child Welfare Act are required. Ability to exemplify the highest level of professional standards/ethics and demonstrate appropriate and culturally sensitive service delivery and community-based treatment. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License and a good driving record. Ability to speak the Creek and/or Miccosukee language is preferred. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays and be on call 24/7 for emergency situations. Out of town travel and overnight assignments may be required of Advocacy employees in order to meet the needs of the tribal communities or individual clients.
