Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for developing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) deliverables focused on Spatial Analysis and Remote Sensing for the Environmental Protection Office (EPO). The GIS Specialist analyzes, visualizes and reports on geospatial data, in particular remote sensed data and provide technical expertise and support to EPO staff on the Spatial Analysis and Remote Sensing workflows. Under the guidance of the EPO GIS Manager, the incumbent implement standards and workflow processes that lead to the creation, maintenance, and distribution of spatial and remote sensed data. The incumbent assists the EPO GIS Manager with GIS development, implementation, and coordination of GIS services across the EPO departments. A Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, or a related field is required, with a GIS Certificate or GIS Professional (GISP) certification preferred. At least three (3) years of experience in geomatics or related fields is required, including proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro for mapping and web services. Experience with Remote Sensing software (ERDAS Imagine and/or ENVI) is essential. Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro tools, Python, R, and/or SQL is desirable. Experience in ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, UAS operation, and designing map standards is preferred. A valid Florida Driver’s License is required, and a Remote Pilot Certificate is a plus. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must demonstrate proficiency utilizing commonly used computer software packages. Must have the ability to travel across reservations and to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
