Job Description

This is a mid-level position within the Climate Resiliency Program, administered through the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Environmental Protection Office (EPO). The incumbent in this position leads the expansion of climate resiliency in-house research efforts and the development of strategic partnerships with agencies and academic institutions that can support our research objectives. The individual is responsible for coordinating and conducting direct research on a variety of environmental and climate challenges, analyzing and interpreting climate trends, connecting EPO programs within a climate lens to achieve maximum tribal benefit, and communicate technical stories in accessible platforms. The incumbent collaborates with the Climate Resiliency team to ensure analysis of climate change trends are utilized in policy and program development to protect the lives, assets, and lifeways of the Seminole community. This role also assists with partnership development, grant proposals, interdepartmental and agency coordination, and supports the program in utilizing both western-based science and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Resource Management, or Urban and Regional Planning is required. Master’s Degree is preferred. Prior experience working in the field is required. Demonstrate excellent project management skills. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft and ESRI software and applications related to the work including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RStudio, and GIS. Demonstrate strong English written and verbal, and interpersonal skills. Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required. Must be able to travel to all the STOF Reservations and areas of interest to Seminole culture and history across Florida. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
