Job Description
The Tribal Guardianship program within the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s (STOF) Advocacy & Guardianship Department (AGD) provides a comprehensive variety of Guardianship services. The program provides supportive services, management of Tribal Member ward’s affairs, ensures proper coordination of services related to their personal, medical care and well-being, legal custody, control of the property/finances of Tribal Member wards whom have been determined to be unable to manage their financial and/or personal affairs, by reason of their age (minors), illnesses related to aging, developmental disabilities, and other incapacity. The incumbent in this position acts as a liaison between the Guardianship Program and the Seminole Tribal Court and is responsible for the preparation and presentation of all guardianship cases before the Court. The individual creates written reports and present before the court; coordinates follow-up of court recommendations and orders; ensuring compliance with the Tribal Guardianship Ordinance to cases as well as all applicable Tribal, State and Federal regulations that have been adopted by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Case Management, or related field is required. Florida Certified Paralegal (FCP) is highly preferred. A minimum of three (3) year of experience working in the Child Welfare field as social worker or caseworker or prior experience with in the behavioral health field including experience working with multi- diagnosed individuals (e.g. mental health disorders/ substance dependence-related conditions); family systems and/or community-based treatments is required. Experience working with populations diagnosed with psychiatric, substance use, and intellectual developmental disorders is preferred. Knowledge of community support services, the ability to participate and contribute as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
