Job Description
The incumbent in this position serves as the lead inspector for overseeing and managing site compliance inspections and compliance process for hazardous material remediation, including documentation, and reporting. The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing site-specific hazardous remediation tasks related to the revitalization of Brownfields and the assessment, remediation, monitoring, sampling, reporting, documentation, and closure of contaminated sites and petroleum storage facilities. The individual is also responsible for responding to emergency environmental concerns (e.g., Hazardous Spill Response, Emergency Environmental Oversight, Hurricane Emergency Response, etc.) and is expected to be available to report to hazardous remediation emergency response notifications on an on-call basis. In addition to the Hazardous Remediation responsibilities, the incumbent also assists with Environmental Compliance where the incumbent reviews engineering plans and documents for compliance with approved work and Best Management Practices (BMPs), etc. The individual performs environmental inspections, reviews, assistance, education, outreach, and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor that support STOF compliance with Tribal Ordinances, federal and local requirements. This position carries additional essential duty responsibilities related to emergency readiness and response. Associate or Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Physical or Biological Science, or other related field, is required. A minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated technical experience within storm water / environmental regulatory / inspection field, is required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered on a year-for-year basis in lieu of above-stated education requirements. Certification in Florida Storm water, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector (FSESCI) is preferred. Completion of OSHA-HAZWOPER 40-hour certification, is preferred. Working knowledge of environmental protection activities such as principles of environmental protection, improvement, quality, and mitigation/remediation, pollution control, environmental damage, and compliance with environmental laws and regulations, is required.
