Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for a broad range of maintenance, community and events support, groundskeeping, and cultural preservation duties that support the daily operations of the cultural grounds and the Tampa and Lakeland Tribal community. Key responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, assisting with the setup and execution of cultural and community events, supporting hurricane preparedness and recovery efforts, handling animal control calls, and assisting with community services such as moving, hauling, and junk removal. The Maintenance Specialist is also tasked with maintaining cultural infrastructure, including sweat lodges, dance fire pits, medicinal plants, and livestock used in traditional practices. This role requires a hands-on, service-oriented individual who demonstrates respect for cultural practices, technical competence, and flexibility to respond to diverse tasks and community needs. High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required. A minimum of three (3) years of prior experience working in landscaping, construction, event support, or maintenance is required. Vocational/technical training in maintenance trades or any combination of relevant training and experience will be considered. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Must ability to travel to all Seminole Reservations and facilities, and to work on various shifts, weekends, evenings and/or holidays as deemed necessary. This position requires to remain on call during and after weather emergencies.
