Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of the Research Division. The individual oversees and performs research and produces written material to share the Seminole Story, in order to educate the public on the fight for indigenous sovereignty and to enhance cultural awareness. The Research Manager conducts original research and gathers data from written sources, oral history, and fieldwork as appropriate. The incumbent works under the direction of the Curator and supports the work of the Collections and Exhibitions divisions, as well other Seminole Tribe of Florida departments such as the Tribal Historic Preservation Office. Bachelor’s degree in History, Anthropology or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of management experience in a museum setting is required. Working knowledge of the museum profession and of the field of history and historical research is required. Incumbent must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages including desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and database management. Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
