Job Description
This is a professional and managerial position that supports water resource and infrastructure operation and management for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Water Resources Department. The incumbent is responsible for daily oversight of Operations & Maintenance section (O&M) activities including, but not limited to, performing water resource management activities related to drainage, water pollution control, water supply, ecosystem protection and restoration, and planning. Emphasis of the work is on the daily coordination and scheduling of O&M staff activities, facilities management, evaluating conditions within the conveyance/drainage system (i.e., water levels), and ensuring clear canal conveyance and proper operation of water pumps and control structures on Reservation/Tribally owned lands. Additional responsibilities include analyzing special conditions/circumstances that affect water infrastructure maintenance/enhancement projects, assisting subordinates with solving difficult or unusual problems, and promoting communication and coordination directed toward effective water resources management. The incumbent will exercise independent judgment but discusses major technical or policy problems with leadership in order to develop and execute resolution strategies. Work will involve directing subordinates and external contractors. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Construction Management or Natural Resource Management, or equivalent field of specialization is required. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a supervisory capacity involving site grading, underground pipe work, excavation, concrete flat work, drainage structures, and pump maintenance, is required. An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience, in lieu of education, will be considered. Considerable knowledge and experience with regard to construction practices is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required, and a Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) is preferred. Must demonstrate proficiency with computer and software applications. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. This position is Tribe Wide, and the incumbent must be able to travel to all STOF Reservations, Tribally-owned land, and other locations, as necessary, and be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The incumbent is deemed Essential Personnel during emergency situations (e.g., tropical cyclones, flooding events, other natural disasters), and must report for duty, accordingly.
