Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting the Director with providing oversight of the Tribe’s National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Team within the External Environmental Compliance Department (EECD). This role involves leading a team in reviewing and evaluating Federal and State Civil Works Water Resource Development projects, programs, and activities, with a focus on ensuring compliance with NEPA, Federal Civil Works Planning processes, and other relevant environmental laws, policies, and executive orders. The Assistant Director collaborates with internal departments and external regulatory bodies to address compliance issues, manage environmental audits, and develop strategies for mitigating environmental risks. Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of natural, physical, social or environmental sciences; archeology or cultural resources; or civil engineering is required. A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the field is required, including demonstrated expertise in Federal Civil Works Planning and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review and compliance process. Experience at the government level is preferred. An equivalent combination of education/training and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills, with experience directing teams and overseeing environmental assessments. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to travel through reservations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
