Job Description
This is an advanced professional management Tribe-wide position within the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Environmental Resources Department (ERD). The Hydrologist plays a critical role in the ERD Water Quality Program by providing essential expertise in monitoring non-point source surface water pollution. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of hydrologic monitoring, including system design, instrumentation and sensor selection and deployment, data collection and processing, analysis, and report preparation. The Hydrologist is responsible for managing and maintaining databases for the Tribe-wide flow and water level monitoring programs and provides supervision to the Hydrologic Monitoring Specialists. The individual collaborates with the ERD Water Quality Program Manager to oversee all stages of project planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting for the water budget calculations of the Tribe’s reservations, delivering high-quality results within budget and timelines. The individual applies hydrologic flow dynamics concepts to monitoring design and data analysis, and prepares comprehensive hydrologic reports. Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrable professional experience, including developing and administering an empirical, science-based, programmatic approach directed towards quantitatively estimating hydrologic flows and water budgets is required. Master’s Degree is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages, GIS software, programming languages and compilers, and other statistical data management packages. Must have the ability to travel to all reservations and Tribal-owned lands and be able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.
